An inbound shipment that needs to be received into inventory is called a Replenishment in the Shipedge WMS.

Why it's Important.

Receiving inventory, known in Shipedge as a Replenishment, is the critical first step that ensures all downstream operations—from putaway to shipping—are based on accurate data.

Replenishment (ASN) vs Blind Receiving

There are two types of receiving that commonly happen in a warehouse. A replenishment that has been created ahead of time, and one that needs to be created during the time of receiving, also known as blind receiving.

Replenishment

A Replenishment record, also commonly known as an advanced shipping notice, lets your team create and feed a clear list of products, quantities, and other important information to the receiving team so inbound operations are quick and seamless.

Replenishment records need to be created from an OMS account (see replenishment documentation); receiving is typically done in the WMS side of the system.

Blind Receiving

Sometimes it's not possible to create a replenishment record in time, or a user may be unwilling to do so.

In this scenario, the team on the WMS side can still receive, but they would need to create a new replenishment in the replenishments view by going to Inventory > Replenishments > Click "Add Replenishment" button. Usually, you would create your blind receipt after you log your initial counts.

Processing an Inbound Replenishment

Ideally, a replenishment is created ahead of time by the OMS user; the receiving process is typically faster, more straightforward, and less error-prone this way. But you can create a blind receipt as well.

There are several ways to receive inventory and process replenishments.

Receiving on the web by data entry

  1. From your WMS account on the web, navigate to Inventory > Replenishments.

  2. Then find the Repenishment record you need to receive.

    1. If there is not one, you can create one by clicking "Add Replenishment"

  3. For each record you see under the "Replenishment Detail" half of the screen;

    1. Click Add Bins, unless you are receiving into a bin that has stock already.

    2. Select a location/bin by typing in either;

      1. Location field - to select a location and create a new bin there

      2. Bin field (under insert new bin) - to select an existing bin

    3. Entering the units in the Qty field.

    4. Click "Submit," and now there will be a new record created under Received SKUs; the original record will also have either a reduced quantity left to be received or disappear if it has been received completely.
